"I must go down to the sea again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying.
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the seagulls crying."
from Sea Fever by John Masefield
Whether you're a bona fide beach baby or an occasional fan, there is no denying the draw of the sea. From Maine to the Keys we flock like lemmings to our favorite stretch of sand.
My favorites .....
Quiberon Bay in Brittany,
Bathtub Reef, Hutchison Island, Fl
Cape May, NJ.
and of course, Rehoboth, DE.
(billed as surrogate worriers) ...
and my favorite new iPhone app, Merlin Bird ID. Answer five easy questions and it provides photos, info and even audio of the bird's call, then logs the sighting into a national data base.
No matter where you park your beach chair, take a nice trashy book, a tall sip of something refreshing, breathe deep and relax.

Beach food at it's best!
Lobster Rolls
Decidedly my favorite seaside treat, simplicity is key.
fresh lobster (I have them cook it at the market)
finely chopped celery
fresh tarragon and chive
fresh lemon juice
mayonnaise
generously buttered & toasted top split hotdog rolls
If you're up for some science fun in the kitchen, try making your own mayo with this incredibly simply recipe. It really does only take 30 seconds.
